Want to put the busy work day behind you or just simply work on your game?   Why not get outside and improve your pickleball skills? These evening clinics will be limited to a small group of eight players for 1 1/2 hours of focused skill- building.

This clinic will focus on what most people consider the most important shot in pickleball and that is the 3rd shot.  Executed by the serving team, this shot really sets the tone for how a point will be played out.  This clinic will focus on whether you should drive or drop your third shot and how to execute each shot.

There's a time to drive and a time to drop.  Register for this clinic to learn and perfect this important shot.

    Hello Players!

The much anticipated Fall Leagues are returning and this time we play at the new dedicated pickleball courts at Bailey Road Park!

Every week will be a round robin format with a different rotating partner in one big group based on skill level.  You will play at least 3 -4 games each week.  Different sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings will be focused on either the 3.0 to 3.25 level, or the 3.25 to 3.75 level.  You register for the appropriate skill level.  We will use 6 courts and have a capacity for 24  players.  You sign up individually so you do not need a partner to register and play.

Using Swish, there will be a Cumulative Leaderboard feature that you will love!!  This Leaderboard will update week by week and display for you your wins, losses, win percentage and point differential compared to the other players in that session.  No more worrying about if you are on Court 1, Court 4 or Court 6.   The top 3 winners of the league will be determined by their statistics, and you as a player will be able to review your statistics each week.  And if you can’t play a specific week, no sub will be needed.  However, your cumulative standings may be impacted if you are not present to play each week and earn that win so you want to show up as often as you can in your 6 week session!

All this fun is for our members only with a minimal cost of $40 for the season.  Registration will open at 12pm on Wednesday October 1, and you will register here : [[ Link to the registration once set up ]]

If you have questions about the league, please reach out to our Director of Tournaments and Leagues, Lisa Soller,  at lsoller@automotivecredit.com

If you are interested in being a League Leader and playing for free, reach out to Lisa and advise which session you are interested in.  League Leaders will simply make sure that players have checked in, place baskets and balls at each court for player use, and will start the matches in Swish once all players are ready to go.

This clinic will focus on the first two shots of every point.  While sometimes taken for granted, consistent and well-placed serves and returns can provide you with a competitive advantage.  Attendees will learn why well-placed serves and return of serves will set them up for success.  Your instructor will cover different types of serves and returns and the best spot on the court to place these important shots.

LKNPA is pleased to offer the next installment of the very popular "Meet and Drill" clinic designed especially for players at the beginner level.  Many beginner players have asked us, "What is the best way to find players who are new to the game but understand the basics?" If you have found open play to be intimidating at times and find it difficult to find a court suitable for your level of play, then this clinic is for you!!!

Join 23 other beginner-level players for a morning of drilling and observed game play where you will receive real-time feedback from certified instructors and experienced players.

This clinic will offer six 15-minute court rotations, where each court will focus on drills for a different skill. Each court will be led by instructors and experienced players.  The last hour of the clinic will feature observed game play where you will have a chance to use your new skills in a controlled and judgment-free environment.

Best of all, each participant will receive a directory of all other participants so you can easily contact each other for future drilling, practicing, and game play.

    ** Age 14+ **

Please join the Lake Norman Pickleball Association (LKNPA) as we welcome those interested in learning about the fastest growing sport in the country that has a weird name but is loads of fun… PICKLEBALL! For only $15, you can see why everyone is talking and enjoying this sport that is enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. People aged 4-100 are taking over courts throughout the nation, meeting new people and getting some exercise while doing so!

The LKNPA is proud to host a beginners only (14+ years old), “Introduction to PICKLEBALL”, starting at 5pm at the NEW Bailey Road Park Pickleball Courts (11536 Bailey Road, Cornelius). The first hour being spent learning all about the sport, paddle, court, ball and why everyone is loving and talking about pickleball! Time will be spent introducing the basic shots, rules and game play. Then at 6pm, the fun continues when the courts open up to other beginners that already know the basic rules of the game.

Please try and bring your own paddle. Dick’s Sporting Goods in Birkdale Village and Academy Sports in Mooresville have a healthy selection of paddles and there is always Amazon. You might already be wondering… “which paddle is for you?” Do not stress over that until you get a good grasp of the game and then you will understand what you want in a paddle.

If the courts are too wet at 4pm the day of the clinic, I will send an email out and the clinic will be postponed to the next week. Hope it doesn’t rain.
